I wonder if she actually thinks about what she is about to say before she opens her mouth? Racking up debt stimulates the economy?!?!?! What the hell? Don't let my wife hear that or there will be a shopping spree at Kohl's tomorrow.
What Madam Speaker failed to tell you is that the Republicans in the Senate blocked the vote because they felt continuing the benefits had to be balanced by cuts elsewhere in Federal Spending. They just were not willing to rack up more dept to pay for this, but let’s not confuse the issue with facts. (We will have our lesson on the founder’s views on debt at a later time.)
Some (including me) would tell you that the Federal government was not designed for the administration of things like this. It is contrary to the Constitution of the United States. I am not stating that I am against unemployment coverage, I am against it being done by the Federal government. This is a job for the states. But why would we let that pesky constitution get in the way now?
